Immigrants

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...
There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Speak English

In 1921, Chinese ambassador Wellington Koo visited America to represent China at the Washington Conference.
At one banquet he found himself seated beside a young woman who, after several minutes of embarrassed silence, attempted to begin a conversation:
"Likee soupee?" she asked.
Alas, Koo merely nodded and continued with his meal.
Some time later, he was called upon to address the guests - which he did for ten minutes in impeccable English.
Sitting down, he turned to his young neighbor and asked:
"Likee speechee?"

Secrets Of Sucess

One salesgirl in a candy store always had customers lined up waiting while other girls stood around idle. The store owner asked for her secret. "It's easy," she said. "The others scoop up more than a pound and then start taking away. I scoop up less, then add to it."

Socialized Medicine

From: Blonde Sagacity

Isn't it amazing that the same people that lambaste every single thing the government does and blames events like 9/11, Katrina and anthrax on the government are the same ones calling for national healthcare. They scream about Walter Reed and then ask for the same care. The government can't do anything right, why would you want them handling your healthcare? Welfare recipients get about 24 CENTS on the dollar. 76 CENTS per dollar on administrative costs?! And you want them managing your health?

Arctic August: NYC Sets Record For Coldest Day
(CBS) NEW YORK Don't forget to bundle up if you're headed out in New York City today. After all, it is August 21. The city along with the rest of the tri-state region is feeling the chilly effect of a cold front sweeping through the region, accompanied by cool rain showers.
Tuesday's high temperature in Central Park was just 59 degrees. The normal high for today is 82 degrees. The normal low is 67.

Main Stream Media Propaganda

A real news story from Yahoo:
Look at the bullets that the woman is holding.

Now read the caption:

An elderly Iraqi woman shows two bullets which she says hit her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City.(AFP/Wissam al-Okaili)

The only way those two bullets hit anything is if someone threw them or launched them from a slingshot. They’re still pristine, still in their shells. And whoever wrote the caption obviously doesn’t know enough about firearms to know that. Either that, or as the tipster who sent this to me says, they’re actively helping create negative media stories against the US.

A fake made up joke news story:

Fake, But Tear-Jerking
I smell a Pulitzer.

The caption reads:

A Baghdad area puppy shows a hand grenade, recently tossed through the window of this Sadr City animal shelter, killing dozens of adorable puppies and kittens and demolishing the building when it detonated.

(A magic grenade that doesn't need its pin pulled to explode and can be used over and over. Just like those magic bullets in the real story above!)

Global Warming In The 1920's

Global warming in the '20s

Before Gore

D.C. resident John Lockwood was conducting research at the Library of Congress and came across an intriguing Page 2 headline in the Nov. 2, 1922 edition of The Washington Post: "Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt."
The 1922 article, obtained by Inside the Beltway, goes on to mention "great masses of ice have now been replaced by moraines of earth and stones," and "at many points well-known glaciers have entirely disappeared."
"This was one of several such articles I have found at the Library of Congress for the 1920s and 1930s," says Mr. Lockwood. "I had read of the just-released NASA estimates, that four of the 10 hottest years in the U.S. were actually in the 1930s, with 1934 the hottest of all."

What's the difference between the United States and Eastern Eupropean countries?
The United States still has a communist party.

Morning Coffee

One morning a man jokingly announced to his family at breakfast, "Don't talk to me until I've had my coffee." His six- year-old daughter responded, "Okay, Daddy. And don't talk to me 'til I've had my milk."

New Science Challenges Climate Alarmists

Seems like only Fox News and the Blogs are reporting this temperature error. The rest of the MSM (Main Stream Media) are ignoring it.

The Fox News Story:
Junk Science: New Science Challenges Climate Alarmists
Thursday, August 09, 2007
By Steven Milloy

“People like to complain about the weather,” goes the old saw. This is especially true nowadays as bad weather becomes an excuse for the climate alarmist-friendly media to trot out its manmade global warming boogeyman.
The alarmists seem to need thinly-veiled headlines – such as the Washington Post’s “Across Globe, Extremes of Heat and Rain” (Aug. 8) and the New York Times’ “Warming Threatens Farms in India, U.N. Officials Says” (Aug. 8) – as two more studies published this week in the journal Science and the discovery of an embarrassing temperature error rained on their parade.

Young Conservatives Dump Republican Politicians For Columnists, Talk Show Stars

Monday, August 06, 2007
By Kelley Beaucar Vlahos
WASHINGTON — Young conservative activists today are a scrappier and more demanding generation — and that means Republican politicians can no long expect lockstep support, but instead have to earn allegiance, say several youth organizers.
The "in crowd" now among young conservatives includes columnists Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin, who have given their cause an edginess and the confidence to take on liberal foes on campus.

Appealing to the Base

From: Blonde Sagacity

Other GOP '08 hopefuls take notice. Tom Tancredo may not have a realistic shot at the Oval Office, but this is the kind of campaign talk many of us want to hear:
"...Republican presidential hopeful Tom Tancredo says the best way he can think of to deter a nuclear terrorist attack on the US is to threaten to retaliate by bombing Islamic holy sites.

DUH!

Back in the mid 80's I had been laying around doing almost
nothing and my weight shot up to 226 pounds. I decided to
go back to work and applied for a job as a Corrections Officer
in a Texas maximum security prison, so I had to lose some
of that excess weight. I started eating only one meal a day
usually consisting of a sandwitch with lots of lettuce and
tomatoes and a small piece of lunchmeat and a handful of
Fritos and all the sweet cold tea I could drink. In four months
I started the training academy at 160 pounds. So I know this
is true:

Obese? That's because you eat too much, says top doctor.

The obese are being treated as if they have a medical problem
when often they simply eat too much and exercise too little,
a leading doctor has said.
